L'information du Nord/Mont-Tremblant, 2007) ************************************************************* Stéphanie Lessard, a native of Montréal, graduated from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in 2006 where she studied with Gabrielle Lavigne (member of the Canadian Opera Hall of Fame). A sought after performer on the concert stage, Stéphanie has distinguished herself in performances of the BWV 21 cantata, Zelenka’s Miserere, Dvořak’s Stabat Mater, Poulenc’s Gloria, Honegger’s King David, Dubois’ Les Sept paroles du Christ, Handel’ Messiah and Bach’s Magnificat. In the contemporary music repertoire, Stéphanie has appeared in Denis Gougeon’s Hermione et le Temps, under the baton of Raffi Armenian, and has worked in collaboration with Canadian composer Luna Pearl Wolff in her work Reluctance, with L’Ensemble de musique contemporaine du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, under the direction of Véronique Lacroix. She has also performed with the Chorum Ensemble. During her studies at the Conservatoire, she performed the title role of Puccini’s Suor Angelica, the Cook in Stravinski’s Le Rossignol, La Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, the Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosalinde in J. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus in their Opera Studio and appeared in Albert Roussel’s light opera Le testament de la tante Caroline, with the Amati Ensemble, under the baton of Raymond Dessaint. Her participation in numerous master classes has also provided her with the opportunity to work with many internationally acclaimed artists - Grace Bumbry, Frederica von Stade, Martin Isepp and Agnès Mellon. Recipient of many prizes and honors, she won First Prize in the vocalist category of the Concours de musique de l'ARAM (2004), Second Prize in the Canadian Music Competition (2005), Third Prize in the OSM Standard Life Competition (2008), and was semi-finalist in the prestigious Concours International de chant en Marmandais (2010). She is also the recipient of the Wilfrid-Pelletier Scholarship Foundation. Upcoming performances include: a recital with the theme of LOVE, Mozart’s Requiem; Bach's Saint John Passion BWV 245 with the Grand Chœur de Montréal and I Musici; Ne blâmez jamais les Bédouins by Alain Thibault and René-Daniel Dubois (Chants Libres, Aria); and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with Le Choeur de Laval.
