Canadian
tenor Sarkis Barsemian is quickly becoming known for his charm and
noble presence on stage. His bright lyric voice and ease with the upper register is well suited for the romantic
leads of Mozart and bel canto repertoire. He appeared as Rodrigo in Verdi’s Otello, Tonio in Donizetti’s La fille du Régiment,
Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff, Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il
Barbiere di Siviglia, Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Armand de Claval
in Massenet’s Thérèse, Saro from the opera Anoush, Brighella & Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos,
and the roles of Andrès, Spalanzani, Franz, and Pitichnaccio in Les Contes d'Hoffmann.
Mr. Barsemian was invited to sing with many Canadian symphony orchestras. His repertoire includes Bach’s St-John Passion, Easter
Oratorio, Magnificat, Cantata 147, Haydn's Missa in Augustiis and Die
Jahreszeiten, Britten’s Serenade for a Tenor, horn and strings,
Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and La Misa Criolla of Ramirez and The Serenade of Music of Vaughan
Williams.
Mr. Barsemian graduated from McGill University in the music
program. He participated in different programs such as the
Orford Opera, The Unlimited Summer Festival Opera in New
Mexico and Summer Opera Lyric Theater of Toronto. In 1999,
He won the first price for the auditions of the natural
Chapter of the National Association Of Teachers of Singing
(NATS) in Montreal and the second price at NATS 21st
Eastern Regions Auditions of New York.
